About Greening the Grid
The Greening the Grid platform is organized into topic-specific Toolkits that provide 1) concise and comprehensive overviews of emerging practices for addressing renewable energy development challenges through policy, market, and regulatory mechanisms and 2) guidance on applying these mechanisms to develop robust renewable energy policies and practices.
Drawing on the toolkits, Greening the Grid also facilitates direct technical assistance tailored to the unique power system characteristics and priorities in each partner country. Some examples of technical collaboration opportunities include:
-
Expert exchange on developing scenarios for large-scale wind and solar generation
-
Development or technical review of grid codes and interconnection requirements
-
Training on the use of grid capacity expansion models and the data needed to support these models
-
Partnering to develop grid integration road maps.
- Greening the Grid is supported by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), and is managed through the USAID-NREL Partnership, which addresses critical aspects of advanced energy systems including grid modernization, distributed energy resources and storage, power sector resilience, and the data and analytical tools needed to support them.
