G-PST: An Introduction to the Global Power System Transformation Consortium

Leaders from champion institutions including the National Grid ESO, the Energy Systems Integration Group (ESIG), the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), Imperial College London, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and the Fraunhofer Society provided an overview of the Global Power System Transformation (G-PST) Consortium and its five action pillars.

The G-PST Consortium is an initiative focused on cutting-edge research, holistic support and knowledge infusion for system operators integrating large shares of renewable energy and complementary technologies with the grid. The 5 Action Pillars established by the G-PST include:

Pillar 1 – System Operator Research and Learning,
Pillar 2 – System Operator Technical Support,
Pillar 3 – Workforce Development,
Pillar 4 – Localized Technology Adoption Support, and
Pillar 5 – Open Data and Tools.
